No visa is required. Citizens of most countries are allowed to stay on the territory of Montenegro from 30 to 90 days without a visa.

Without visas in Montenegro citizens of some countries can stay up to 90 days only from May to September.

Cities and resorts

Montenegro has a lot of resorts, so people with different preferences and financial possibilities will be able to find a place to their liking.

The country has both quiet coastal towns suitable for family vacations, and noisy Budva for young people, and the luxurious island of Sveti Stefan for tourists who prefer the highest level of comfort.

Small but famous ski resorts are also popular.

The capital of Montenegro - Podgorica - is the largest city, where a quarter of the country's population lives. It is located in the center of the state, surrounded by the rivers Moraća and Ribnica, and next to the Skadar Lake. There is an international airport in the capital. Landlocked, there are theaters, museums, and a state university.

Tivat is one of the most famous cities in the former Yugoslavia. International airport and yet wonderful beaches and climate. And the main attraction of Tivat is Porto Montenegro - a luxurious marina, which in addition to the marina itself includes a whole infrastructure complex: apartments, hotels, conference hall, sports grounds, art gallery, museum, restaurants, bars and stores.

In fact, it is a small town for yachtsmen, which has everything necessary for comfortable living and recreation.

Budva is Montenegro's most important resort. The Budva Riviera is a kilometer-long promenade, with clean, bucolic beaches surrounded by rocks in the shape of a layer cake. The views are stunning.

The most party city in the country, there is a huge number of nightclubs, casinos, restaurants and cafes, entertainment centers and much more for a fun time. But in addition, there is the Old Town, a major historical center with UNESCO-listed ancient architecture.

Sveti Stefan Island - this island used to be an ordinary fishing village, but now it has turned into an elite resort with the most luxurious apartments in all of Montenegro. Hollywood stars, famous businessmen and even monarchs vacation here. The territory of the island is closed to ordinary tourists, but everyone can relax on the beach with a canonical view of the resort, which can be seen on tourist brochures.

Nikšić - the first mention of this place dates back to the 4th century BC, now it is an important industrial center of the country and the second most populous city.

Petrovac - a cozy town located on the very shore of a picturesque bay will be an ideal place for relaxation. Here you can walk through pine and olive groves, stroll along the promenade with numerous cafes and stores, as well as go on boat trips to the nearest islands. Nightlife lovers can visit an unusual club in a converted XVI century fortress.

Kotor is practically made up of solid sights. The entire historic center of the city, with its perfectly preserved medieval quarters, temples and palaces, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The old town is surrounded by fortress walls up to 16 meters thick. Kotor has small beaches, but large tourist liners come to the coast every day, so the water in this part of the bay is not so clean.

Herceg Novi - This resort is mainly chosen by tourists who want to improve their health. There is a large center for spa treatment, rehabilitation and physiotherapy called “Igalo”, which offers modern procedures for the treatment of various diseases and improvement of general condition. Another advantage of this town is the beautiful gardens and parks with dozens of species of exotic plants.

The small town of Žabljak with a population of only 2,000 people has become a popular ski resort. Tourists are happy to come all year round - to admire the local natural beauty and have a relaxing vacation.

Žabljak is known as the highest situated settlement in Europe. It is located in the center of the Durmitor mountain range at an altitude of almost 1.5 km above the sea.
